Why do I have to pay to pet cats?
At Paws Awhile Cat Cafe, an admission is charged for entry into the cat lounge so we can provide this wonderful experience and afford our expenses to take excellent care of our kitties here until they find their forever homes. Feel free to get a snack in the cafe, and enjoy watching the cats through our viewing windows also!

Who can benefit from a cat cafe?

* Cats have shown to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety
* Tourist missing pets at home

* Unique meeting area for book clubs, knitting groups, work sessions, study groups, and more!

Do you have an age policy?
Yes, we do have an age limits established to help keep the atmosphere calm for our kitties, and protect the safety of customers and the cats. See tab on "Visiting and Age Requirements". We will offer some time slots designated for younger age groups to attend, to make sure that there is opportunity for everyone considering adopting a new kitty.

Can I bring my own cat with me to the cafe?
No, Paws Awhile Cat Cafe is a place for people to come relax and enjoy the company of our adoptable cats. And for some lucky cats, they may bond with visiting humans and find their forever homes. For the health and safety of our vetted kitties we do not allow other pets to be introduced into our population.

Where do all of the cats come from??
Currently we partner with various rescue organizations, and the Humane Society of Houston County. The cats are vetted and available for adoption through the humane society. We may partner with other shelters down the road, and will update our site if any changes or additions.

If I find a stray can I bring it to you?
No, we are not able to take surrendered or stray cats. Paws Awhile Cat Cafe is not a shelter or a rescue, we cannot take cats into our facility.
We partner with organizations like the humane society so our cats are vetted and we research to introduce kitties that are felt to have a good temperament to live within the cat cafe. Our goal is for the cafe to be a great, healthy environment for the cats to optimize their opportunity to find a permanent home.
If you find a cat and need assistance, please reach out to your local shelter or humane society for guidance.

Can food and drinks be taken into the Cat Lounge?
Yes! This experience is meant to be fun, and snacks are fun! Food you purchase in our cafe can be taken into the Cat Lounge. But please do not feed the cats, as they may be on special diet, or at a minimim we don't want to cause any upset tummy's. We monitor how and when they are fed to optimize their health while with us. No outside food or drinks please.
